We welcome post submissions! The more voices that are included here, the richer this blog becomes, and the more likely it is to actually be of help to people, which is our only goal.
The inspiration for Just A Thought is rooted in recovery and sobriety, but all are welcome here. The assumption is that wisdom shared from life experience has the potential to benefit everyone, and can strengthen those on the journey of recovery. Whoever you are, and whatever your story, you probably have something to share that will touch someone else. If you’re interested in contributing, there are just a few guidelines:
- You may or may not be in recovery, and your story may or may not be directly associated with addiction and recovery.
- The main goal of this blog, to coin a common AA phrase, is “to share our strength, hope and experience.” It is not a forum for debate, but a place to share. Your own story is what will be most powerful to other readers. How have you encountered and worked through a problem in your life? How have you grown? What have you learned? How have your struggles given meaning to your life?
- Please let us know how you would like your name to appear. At the bottom of the post, we can credit you with your first and last names, or with only your first name. You may also choose to remain anonymous. We will publish anonymous posts only from those who make their identities known to us. In the post title, unless you are anonymous, your first name will appear in parentheses at the end of the title, e.g. “Why I Love Sobriety (by Marsha).”
- Most posts are between 350 and 750 words. Please aim for something in that range.
We may edit what you write for length, grammar, spelling, punctuation, syntax, and so forth.

Thank you!
